Overview
To support UCI Health’s Magnet designation process, the Nursing Education Department needed a professional, public-facing website that aligned with hospital branding. The original standalone site was outdated and difficult to manage. I led the migration of Nursing’s content into a new sub-section of the hospital’s official website in collaboration with the Marketing team.

New Website
Problems
The outdated nursing website came with outdated challenges:
Visibility – A public-facing Nursing website was required to meet Magnet designation criteria and showcase key initiatives.
Delays – Required IT involvement for every content update, slowing down responsiveness.
Control – Nursing lacked direct control over content updates and structure.
Confusion – There was no clear information architecture, making it hard for users to find relevant resources.
Outdated – The original Nursing website was outdated and no longer met current design or accessibility expectations.
Project Timeline

One of the early challenges was regaining momentum after key staff members returned from summer vacations. With multiple team members working on different Magnet projects, it took time to get everyone back on the same page.
Content Collection
Each stakeholder received a custom PDF with editable fields and checkboxes to ensure their portion is completed and validated. This helped streamline processing content and reduce back-and-forth emails.

Sitemap
To guide the structure of the new website, I created a sitemap that organized content into logical, user-friendly categories. This helped align stakeholders, clarified navigation paths, and ensured all required Magnet-related content was included in a way that made sense to both internal staff and external visitors.

Handoff
Once all content and assets were finalized, I organized everything into a structured repository for the Marketing team. This included approved page copy, images, documents, a sitemap, and clear instructions for implementation. The organized handoff ensured a smooth transition and allowed Marketing to stage and launch the site efficiently within the set timeline.
